The Law Office of Mark Hefter, P.C. was established in 2007 after Mr. Hefter spent close to twenty years working for two prominent Austin law firms. Mr. Hefter has participated in various trials and settlements on behalf of consumers and their families in multiple venues combined to amount to over $100 million. His experience includes managing a wide-ranging docket of cases including personal injury, wrongful death, products liability, pharmaceutical and commercial litigation. Mr. Hefter has worked as a defense attorney, defending large corporations and working on behalf of large insurance companies. More recently, Mr. Hefter spent close to 15 years working on behalf of victims and their families who had been harmed by wrongful conduct.
Mr. Hefter was born on June 6, 1959, in Houston, Texas where he attended public school. He graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in Environmental Science and went on to obtain his license in the State of Texas as an architect. He worked as an architect in Houston while attending law school in the evenings. Mr. Hefter was a member of the South Texas Law Review where he was elected Articles Editor. He also received several awards from both the Law Review and the Advocacy programs. Mr. Hefter graduated with honors from South Texas College of Law in 1987, and started his legal career in Austin, Texas with law firm of Clark, Thomas & Winters, where he worked in the appellate, commercial litigation and products liability sections of the firm. In 1993, Mr. Hefter joined the law firm of Shields & Rusk, which later became The Rusk Law Firm, where he worked until the formation of the Law Office of Mark Hefter, P.C.
Mr. Hefter is Board Certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in the areas of Personal Injury Law and Consumer and Commercial Law. In addition, he is Board Certified as a Civil Trial Advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. He is a Registered Architect in the State of Texas. He is admitted to practice in all state courts in Texas and the Fifth Circuit, as well as the United States District Courts for the Northern, Southern, Eastern and Western Districts. He was awarded an AV rating by Martindale Hubbell for professional excellence in skill and integrity.
